Rock the Boat
Rock the Boat
Synopsis

Rock the Boat is a fun, fast-paced documentary about Los Angeles and a group of accidental activists who took back their river (think Huckleberry Finn meets Chinatown). When satirical writer and avid kayaker George Wolfe organizes a boating trip to demand public access to the embattled Los Angeles River, he and his motley crew become entangled in a national controversy surrounding the river's "navigability" and eligibility for federal protection. Because the three-day expedition was ultimately instrumental in establishing full protection for this and many other rivers like it, Rock the Boat is both an adventure film and a historical document. With breathtaking images of the LA River, insightful interviews and a soft spot for humor, Rock the Boat is an inspiration film all the way.

A film by The LA River Expedition.
