Valparai, A small hill district in Southern India is known for its tea plantations . Following their ancient migratory route, about 100 elephants traverse through tea plantations every year.
Herds of elephants walking through tea estates full of people is a recipe for disaster. People get killed and the result is retaliation and anger towards the animals. Two Scientists from the Nature Conservation Foundation analysed the attacks and found that most deaths were a result of people accidentally bumping into the elephants, without realising they were so close. They develop an ingenious way of warning people, using the power of the mobile phone. Would it work?
